ARCHIVED - The summer weather of October comes to an end
Temperatures are set to drop throughout Spain in the coming days
The pleasantly mild temperatures we have been enjoying since the onset of autumn in Spain are sadly set to come to an end this week, according to predictions made by the State Meteorological Agency, Aemet.
Beginning on Thursday October 21, the drop in temperatures will begin in the northern part of the country, while southern coastal areas will experience one final blast of heat, reaching the high 20s in many parts of the Valencian Community, including Alicante.
In contrast, further up the Peninsula areas such as León, Palencia and Burgos could feel temperatures plunge to just 12 degrees on Wednesday.
According to a post on Aemet’s official Twitter account, temperatures will continue to drop as the week goes on, with an early frost not beyond the realms in many communities. The agency forecasts that temperatures will decline through Friday, with little change over the weekend. However, overall, the weather should be balmy enough on Saturday and Sunday across Spain.
On Wednesday, while it’s becoming decidedly more chilly in the north of the country, inland in the southeast remains warm, with temperatures above 30 degrees registered in Guadalquivir, Andalucía.
At the same time, gusty winds are expected to blow in from the west on the coast of Galicia and the Cantabrian sea, along the south of the Balearic Islands and the northeast of Catalonia. Scattered showers are also expected in the northern part of the country.
