As petrol prices and the cost of diesel continue their unchecked rise and fuel prices reaching record highs and experts warning that the price of petrol could exceed 3 euros/litre this summer, the Organisation of Consumers and Users in Spain (OCU) has published the results of a study of petrol and diesel prices at more than 10,000 service stations, and revealed the cheapest places to fill up.
The study, published in the July issue of the magazine ‘Compra Maestra’, compares both brands and areas of Spain to find the cheapest average price for petrol and diesel in the country.
The results show that BonÀrea is the cheapest chain for diesel A and petrol 95, with supermarkets and service stations in Catalonia and neighbouring areas of Aragón. This is followed by the automatic self-service petrol station chain Plenoil, GM Oil (linked to GM cash) and Campsa Express, the low-cost variant of Campsa. Petroprix equals the previous ones, but only in diesel.
