ARCHIVED - Tremor in Torrevieja: minor quake recorded with epicentre in the salt lagoon
A 1.4 magnitude earthquake has been registered in Torrevieja salt lagoon this morning, Friday May 6

During the early hours of Friday morning, May 6, a minor earthquake registering 1.4 on the Richter scale was recorded in Torrevieja, with the epicentre in the famous salt lagoon.
The tremor occurred at 1.39am and didn't cause any reported personal or material damage.
According to Proyecto Mastral Torrevieja, "the earthquake was felt by members of the local population, although due to its low magnitude and the time at which it occurred there are many people who have not noticed it at all".
Tremors are not uncommon in the Vega Baja area of Alicante due to the fact that "it is an area of high seismic activity".
