Two wins in a row for the British Isles team in La Manga Club Micasamo Nations Cup
They did it again!
The British Isles tennis team, the title defender of the Micasamo Nations Cup tournament, won their second consecutive competition last weekend, this time against a Norwegian team.
After some welcome words, refreshments a reminder of the rules and assigning the courts, the competition started last Sunday October 22.
It was a tough first journey for the Norwegian team, coming from -35°C and without any transition to having to play in +25°C.
After the Ladies and Men’s doubles played on Sunday, La Manga Club’s Racquets Club saw the British Isles team take a strong 5-1 lead. The first competition day ended with some bites and drinks at La Barra Tapas Bar in the centre of La Manga Club.
On the second day of the competition, on Monday October 23, the ladies’ and men’s doubles gave way to the mixed doubles, and the result of the day was once more really disappointing for the Norwegian team. 5-1.
So, the British Isles team has done it again!
“A well-deserved victory,” said event organiser Alain Hendrickx, “The fight was fierce and lot of sets went to tie-break or super tie-break.”
The day ended with a closing dinner and trophy presentation at the Owners’ Club which supported the Norwegian team.Everybody really enjoyed the two days’ competition. During the dinner, Norwegian team captain Natasha Kassirova (pictured), announced they were happy to welcome the British Isles team to Norway for another competition day, but also that they definitely will come back next year to get their revenge!
Alain Hendrickx said, “I’m really happy with the success of this second edition of the Micasamo Nations Cup. Two days of ideas sharing, laughs, fun, drinks, good food, friendship and… some good tennis.”
He hopes to be able to organise another edition in the coming months.
