ARCHIVED - Ukraine driving licences valid in Spain for a year
Ukrainians can drive in Spain once they have a valid licence and are of legal age
The Ministry of the Interior has decreed this week that all Ukrainian driving licences will remain valid in Spain for one year so that all citizens who have fled from the besieged country can continue to drive and travel freely. Ukrainians can benefit from this new measure once their licences are valid and the motorists are of legal driving age in Spain.
In addition, Russian citizens may exchange their driving licence for a Spanish one if they wish, providing they prove their residence in Spain by submitting their temporary protection application. Ukrainians living in Spain prior to the Russian invasion on February 24 can also exchange their licence for a Spanish one.

In both cases, because it is currently impossible to obtain verification of the validity of the licence from the Ukrainian authorities, this requirement will be replaced by a statement of responsibility signed by the applicant.
Last week, the government announced that Ukrainians would be included in the 2001 Temporary Automatic Protection Directive, meaning that refugees and existing expats in Spain will be granted automatic residency and work permits.
