VIDEO: Six Hells Angels bikers arrested in Spain for intimidation and coercion
The gang stands accused of threatening other biker groups who wanted to set up headquarters in Tenerife
The National Police in Tenerife have arrested six members of the notorious Hells Angels Motorcycle Club for crimes of serious threats and coercion, criminal damages and belonging to a criminal organisation.
This investigation began three years ago when the group expressed its intention to set up headquarters on the Canary island.
Given the well-documented links between this particular biker club and organised crime in the US and other parts of Europe, investigators determined to keep a close eye on their operation. It quickly became clear that the Hells Angels considered Tenerife to be their ‘territory’ and they threatened and abused other legitimate clubs trying to establish themselves on the island, damaging several expensive motorcycles and cars in the process.

These latest arrests are part of a European operation to stamp out these so-called outlaw motorcycle gangs linked to organised crime. In Spain, several arrests have already been made in relation to crimes ranging from drug trafficking and extortion to robbery with violence and the illegal possession of weapons.
Last month, the extradition of a leader of the Hells Angels Ibiza chapter back to Germany was delayed after he became violent and unmanageable on the flight. The former boxer was the subject of a European Arrest and Surrender Order (OEDE) in connection with drug trafficking crimes, specifically cocaine, methamphetamine and hashish.
At the last count, Hells Angels Motorcycle Club (HAMC) had chapters in 62 countries around the world and around 5,000 members despite being illegal in several regions, including Germany and the Netherlands. The gang first appeared in Spain in 1997 and now has around 17 headquarters, strategically located in known organised crime hotspots like the Costa del Sol and Canary Islands.
