Violent passenger forces flight from Alicante to Glasgow to stop in Santander
The flights crew had to request special authorisation to divert the flight and land in Santander
A flight from Alicante to Glasgow has been diverted, landing in Santander because of the violent attitude of a passenger on board. The Ryanair flight, which departed from Alicante, was disrupted by the behaviour of the passenger who seemed to be in a state of intoxication.
The cabin crew was therefore forced to contact the controllers in Santander to request authorisation to divert the plane to Seve Ballesteros airport. Authorisation was given to descend and approach one of the runways at Santander Airport, where police intervention was coordinated.
The plane landed without complications approximately one hour after taking off from Alicante, shortly after 12pm. At the airport, the National Police proceeded to take the troubled passenger off the plane and the flight resumed on its way at around 2pm.
