Mercury will rise to 24ºC in parts of Alicante province

April has been marked by cloudy skies, rain with hail and the odd thunderstorm thrown in and even snow on the peaks of the Serrella this week. And in Torrevieja, images of an incredible 'waterspout' emerged following a heavy storm. However, the rain will make way for the welcome return of the sun from today (Thursday April 21) with maximum temperatures of up to 24ºC in Orihuela and Elche.

Following a somewhat cloudy start to the day, the skies will clear in all but the Marina Alta area, and most of the province will see the mercury rise, although only marginally in Benidorm and Alcoy where thermometers will teeter between 18ºC and 21ºC.

Alcoy: Lows of 7ºC and highs of 18ºC

Alicante: 12ºC to 22ºC

Denia: 11ºC to 21ºC

Elche: 11ºC to 24ºC

Orihuela: 11ºC to 24ºC

Friday will see cloudy intervals but for the most, the sun will prevail although there will be a slight drop in temperatures. Only a low probability of showers further inland during the afternoon with moderate winds from the south along the coast, according to the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet).

Alcoy: 9ºC to 17ºC

Alicante: 13ºC to 21ºC

Denia: 12ºC to 21ºC

Elche: 11ºC to 21ºC

Orihuela: 11ºC to 21ºC

Little change on Saturday, with cloudy intervals and possible showers giving way to sunshine during late afternoon and moderate winds from the west and southwest.

Alcoy: 8ºC to 14ºC

Alicante: 13ºC to 22ºC

Denia: 12ºC to 21ºC

Elche: 11ºC to 21ºC

Orihuela: 11ºC to 22ºC

The majority of the province looks set to bask in temperatures of between 22ºC and 24ºC on Sunday, with the exception of Alcoy, as cloudy morning skies clear for a brighter afternoon with light to moderate westerly winds.

Alcoy: 8ºC to 19ºC

Alicante: 12ºC to 24ºC

Denia: 13ºC to 22ºC

Elche: 10ºC to 24ºC

Orihuela: 9ºC to 23ºC
