ARCHIVED - WATCH: 7 men careen through Murcia town on roof of jeep
The daredevils threw firecrackers from the vehicle as they sped through the streets of Caravaca de la Cruz

Hardly able to believe his eyes, a Murcia truck driver whipped out his phone just in time on Wednesday February 1 to capture a scene of true road madness. Seven adults, most of whom were dressed in work clothes, perched atop an SUV as it sped through the Caravaca district of Barranda.
The men were precariously perched on the roof and bonnet of the jeep as it careened through the streets of the town.
Footage of the extraordinary scene has taken over the internet but the trucker’s amusement quickly turned to concern when he realised the reckless men were launching firecrackers off the side of the SUV, as well as numerous small fireworks that crackled and exploded in front of other cars.

His laughs turning to dismay, the lorry driver exclaimed: “They are going wild,” when he spotted some of the occupants launching forklifts, a type of cracker that releases copious amounts of smoke and sparks. The murk enveloped the road and put other drivers at serious risk.
Quite aside from the danger posed to the occupants of the SUV and other road users by perching on top of the vehicle, the General Directorate of Traffic (DGT) has highlighted that "throwing onto the road or in its surroundings any object that can cause traffic accidents" is punishable with the loss of six points from driving licenses and between 300 and 3,000 euros in the case of minor infractions, and between 3,001 and 15,000 euros in the case of serious offences.
