ARCHIVED - WATCH: sick vulture rescued from streets of Madrid
The bird was likely disorientated in the storm which hit Spain’s capital this week
Officers from the Environment Unit (UMA) of the Municipal Police of Madrid have safely captured an exhausted and disorientated vulture that was found wandering through the Malasaña district on Wednesday morning, August 3.
A bewildered passer-by spotted the enormous bird as it meandered past number 1 Calle Aduana in the middle of the road at around 9am and contacted the Police.

Agents believe that the animal became disorientated in the storm that battered the capital and weighed down by the driving rain, landed exhausted in the street.
The Municipal Police rushed to the scene and stopped traffic while they rescued the bird.
The video shows specialist officers creeping up behind the huge vulture and covering it with a blanket to reduce stress, before it was safely stowed away and transferred to the Brinzal animal recovery centre.
The vulture is said to be recovering well and will shortly be released back into the wild.
