WATCH: Starving dog rescued from abusive father and daughter in Murcia
The dog was emaciated and could barely walk when Murcia police rescued her from a farm
Shocking footage has emerged of the pitiful state of neglected dog rescued from a farmyard in the municipality of Alguazas in Murcia. The mastiff cross was discovered chained up in a filthy, rubbish-strewn out-building and was so frail and thin, she could barely walk.
The Guardia Civil of the Region of Murcia launched operation Loneliness in collaboration with the Local Police of Alguazas when they got wind of the animal abuse. At the beginning of May, an animal protection association contacted the authorities and registered their concern about the health of an abandoned dog who looked to be in terrible condition.
Guardia Civil officers travelled to the farm, where they found the animal shut away in a dark shed, and one agent had to crawl through a tiny opening to get to her. The mastiff was so emaciated that she hardly had the strength to stand up, but officers finally coaxed her outside.

The rescued dog was immediately fostered by the local protection association, who began nursing her back to health while police started tracking down her neglectful owners.
The investigation came to a head when specialists from Seprona, the Nature Protection Service of the Guardia Civil, zoned in on a father and daughter who lived nearby and were established as the legal owners of the starving animal.
