ARCHIVED - Weather alert for heavy rains raised from yellow to orange in Cartagena and Mazarron
The orange warning will be in place until 9pm for the risk of flooding, when it will be downgraded to yellow
The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has upgraded its rain warning for this Wednesday to orange in the areas of Campo de Cartagena and Mazarrón, from 9am until 9pm. They are now warning of accumulated rainfall that could reach up to 30mm in an hour and up to 60mm in 12 hours.
The warning will be downgraded again to yellow from 9pm until midnight on Wednesday.
In addition, a coastal warning will remain active in these same regions between 3pm and 6am on Thursday, with waves of three metres with winds from the north and northeast of force 6 to 7.
In the rest of the Murcia, rainfall may reach up to 20 litres per square metre in one hour, so they all remain on yellow alert until 4am on Thursday morning.
The Directorate General for Public Safety and Emergencies is keeping the Special Civil Protection Plan for Floods (Inunmur) active in emergency phase level 1, due to the heavy rains that are being recorded in the Region and the risk of flooding.
There has already been flooding in Molina de Segura, and more more is expected all across the eastern coast of Spain throughout today and tonight.
