Two wildfires merge on the scrubland land near Camposol’s Sector C border

Two separate wildfire outbreaks merged into a single larger fire that extended to an area of ​​scrubland near Camposol’s Sector C border on Sunday April 23. After the emergency services were alerted the fire was brought under control at 8.13 p.m.

The 1-1-2 Emergency Coordination Center received a call at 7.19 pm to report a fire on a plot of land near the perimeter of the Camposol urbanisation, in the municipality of Mazarrón. Shortly afterwards, it was reported that two different outbreaks had merged into a larger one, and firefighters from the Fire and Rescue Consortium were dispatched to the incident. On arrival they immediately called the control centre for more support, a unit from the forest brigade of the Forest Fire Defence Unit was sent to join forces and extinguish the blaze.

The fire was considered under control at 8:13 p.m.

The blaze brought back memories of a large wildfire which broke out on farmland to the south of the Camposol development in July 2022, after which investigations resulted in a local farmer being charged with starting the fire by negligently allowing unused polythene sheeting blow onto an electricity pylon.
