Strong gusts of wind are forecast in inland areas of Alicante province over the next few days

Unseasonal warm temperatures are expected to stick around this week with thermometers hovering in the high teens and even topping out at 23ºC in Alicante and the Baix Vinalopó region of the province.

Although it will remain very pleasant for January, the mercury will drop slightly as the week progresses, but nighttime temperatures are not expected to fall below 6ºC.

Conditions will be bright and sunny for the most part, but the week will be marked by moderate to strong winds.

Monday January 9 will get off to a cloudy start with intervals in the afternoon. Winds from the west and northwest will be moderate to strong, with very strong gusts in high or exposed inland areas, easing to light by the end of the day.

Alcoy: 8ºC to 18ºC

Alicante: 9ºC to 23ºC

Denia: 9ºC to 21ºC

Elche: 10ºC to 23ºC

Orihuela: 8ºC to 22ºC

Again, the outlook for Tuesday January 10 is cloudy to begin with, giving way to clear or partly cloudy skies as the day progresses. The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has forecast a light westerly wind with moderate intervals, and a modest dip in temperatures.

Alcoy: 7ºC to 18ºC

Alicante: 7ºC to 19ºC

Denia: 8ºC to 18ºC

Elche: 8ºC to 21ºC

Orihuela: 6ºC to 20ºC

Wednesday January 11 will dawn with partly cloudy skies, and the mercury will take an upward turn in Alicante city and the Marina Alta region, in particular Denia. Wind from the west and northwest will be light to moderate, increasing to very strong gusts in the inland northern area of the province.

Alcoy: 7ºC to 17ºC

Alicante: 9ºC to 21ºC

Denia: 9ºC to 20ºC

Elche: 9ºC to 21ºC

Orihuela: 6ºC to 20ºC

Light clouds or clear skies will mark the start of Thursday January 12 and the see-sawing temperatures will fall marginally. West and northwesterly winds will be light to moderate.

Alcoy: 6ºC to 17ºC

Alicante: 8ºC to 19ºC

Denia: 8ºC to 18ºC

Elche: 7ºC to 19ºC

Orihuela: 6ºC to 18ºC
