A woman has been arrested as the alleged perpetrator of the sabotage that took place back in February in the facilities of the Bodegas Cepa 21 winery, in northern Spain’s Valladolid, which caused 60,000 litres of its premium wines valued at 2.5 million euros to spill onto the floor.
The incident took place on the night of February 17, 2024, at 3.30am. As recorded on the winery’s security cameras, a hooded person entered the tank area and in less than a minute opened the taps of five steel tanks, three of which were full, spilling the contents.
The bodega’s director, José Moro, estimated the losses caused by the attack at 2.5 million euros.
One of the tanks was the Cepa 21 red variety, the second a 2023 vintage of Horcajo, which “has been lost in its entirety” and the third the wine Malabrigo, a third of which was lost.
