ARCHIVED - Yellow alert for high temperatures in Vega del Segura: Region of Murcia weather outlook June 8-12
The mercury will rise to 38ºC in the Vega del Segura of Murcia
As much of Spain sizzles in a heatwave, the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has issued a yellow alert from midday Wednesday June 8 until at least 8pm with the mercury expected to rise to 38ºC.
The Murcia Region will be spared the stifling heatwave that is forecast for southern Spain for the remainder of this week, but nevertheless, the next few days will not exactly be cool, particularly at night.
Moving into Thursday June 9 and maximum temperatures will fall between 3 and 5 degrees and the mercury is not expected to exceed 33ºC in Yecla, 32ºC in Caravaca, Lorca and Murcia, and 28ºC in Cartagena.
Minimum temperatures, however, will rise to around 20ºC leading to tropical nights.
On Friday and Saturday (June 10 and 11) thermometers will remain stable with minimum temperatures of around 20ºC and maximum temperatures of no more than 32-33ºC.
But on Sunday, they will rise once again to reach 35ºC in most of the region.
