ARCHIVED - Yellow weather warning around Mazarron and the Mar Menor on Wednesday and Thursday
The alert has been raised as up to 20mm of rainfall is forecast in one hour
A yellow weather alert – the lowest level alert of the yellow-orange-red system used in Spain – has been issued by the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) for the risk of heavy rainfall and storms in the Campo de Cartagena and Mazarrón this Wednesday and Thursday.
Specifically, for Wednesday October 5, Aemet is warning of up to 20mm of precipitation in an hour on the Murcia coastline, with an alert that is in place until 10pm.
On Thursday October 6, this same alert will be in place all day long, for a total of 24 hours, and will be extended to the central and southwestern parts of the Murcia Region, to include Lorca, Águilas and Murcia city.
Just last week, the Murcia and Alicante areas saw dreadful flooding that left destruction to property and one man dead from drowning.
