You only have 10 days left to do your IRPF income tax returns in Spain
Be quick to finish filing your Spanish tax declaration for the 2023 tax campaign
The deadline for filing Spanish personal income tax returns is fast approaching, as the last day to be able to file your IRPF tax declaration is June 30, 2023.
It has been possible to declare your earnings in Spain for the year 2022 since April 11, 2023, a legal requirement for anyone resident in Spain who earned over 5,500 euros last year (or 6,700 euros for over-65s and 8,100 euros for over-75s).
Non-residents who only live in Spain for up to half the year are taxed a 24% flat rate on income earned within Spain.
There are exceptions and exemptions to these rules, but a thorough knowledge of the Spanish Hacienda Tax Office systems and regulations are necessary to access any tax benefits.
For that reason, while it is technically possible to do your tax returns yourself in Spain, many people – both Spaniards and foreign citizens – choose to contract the services of a professional, dedicated tax firm to do it for them.
Abad Abogados is a multilingual accountancy, tax and legal services firm based in Murcia and Alicante who specialise in making Spanish income tax returns as easy as possible for expats.
