ARCHIVED - 80-year-old woman on Ryanair flight from Bournemouth rushed to Murcia hospital after fainting mid-flight
The elderly passenger fell ill mid-flight and had to be met by paramedics on the runway at Murcia airport this morning
A passenger on a plane that landed at Murcia’s Corvera airport from the UK had to receive emergency medical treatment this morning after falling ill mid-flight.
A runway at Corvera airport was made available for the ambulance, which transferred the 80-year-old woman to the Virgen de la Arrixaca hospital.
The Ryanair flight FR5946 from Bournemouth was due to arrive at Murcia airport at 10am on Friday October 14, and it was the airport’s operations department that first raised the alarm at 9.30am that an emergency medical team was needed on the ground for when the plane landed.
There was a passenger on board, a woman aged 80 years old, who had started to feel unwell to the point that she had fainted in the middle of the flight. The pilot called and the Region’s Emergency Coordination Centre to inform them of the situation and request help on arrival.
The ambulance was waiting on the runway when the flight touched down, and medical staff rushed the 80-year-old woman to the Virgen de la Arrixaca in Murcia.
