ARCHIVED - Five deaths in Spain now linked to AstraZeneca vaccineÂ
The latest report on the effects of Covid vaccines claims that although five deaths have been linked to the drug, vaccinations have prevented at least 17,000 cases of coronavirus and 3,500 deaths in Spain.
The AEMS (Spanish Medicine and Health Products Agency) has released a new report on the effects of Covid vaccines in Spain that reveals that five deaths have been linked to the vaccine by AstraZeneca.
The report, based on data up to 30 May, states that 5,021,810 doses of the drug by AstraZeneca had been administered to 4,977,734 patients, and that apart from the five deaths reported there had also been 21 ‘highly likely or confirmed’ cases of blood clots, the majority of them in patients in their 30s or 40s.
Altogether, 26.2 million doses of the four Covid vaccines currently approved for use in Spain (Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca and Janssen) had been administered, and 24,491 cases of adverse effects, 4,659 cases of them severe, had been notified, according to the report.
Where minor adverse effects are concerned, 93 out of 100,000 patients report headaches, fever, muscle pain, or pain at the injection site. Women appear to be slightly more likely to experience minor side effects than men (56 per cent versus 44 per cent), according to the official data.
