ARCHIVED - Vandals trash Parque Sauces dinosaurs barely a month after it opens
The newly refurbished Cartagena park, which cost 218,997 euros, was vandalised last night
The iconic Parque Sauces in Cartagena, notable for its huge dinosaur sculptures, has been vandalised barely a month after its long-awaited inauguration. One of the park’s dinosaurs has had its tail broken off, and the equipment in the children’s play areas has been damaged too.
“These acts are detrimental to all Cartagena residents, and we ask everyone to be civic-minded and respect the street furniture and infrastructure, so that we can continue to enjoy it”, said municipal sources. “Of course, we also ask any local residents to call the police and report it if they witness any more situations like this”.
There have been calls from Cartagena residents for CCTV cameras to be installed in the area surrounding the park to stop such acts from occurring again.
As for the damage to the dinosaur, municipal technicians are analysing what procedure to follow to repair or replace it. It was originally imported from China, which makes finding a way to replace the damaged parts a little more complicated.
