As fuel prices surge in Alicante: Here are the current cheapest petrol spots
Drivers face rising costs at the pump as global tensions continue to push prices higher
Drivers across the province of Alicante are feeling the pinch this week, with fuel prices climbing sharply compared to just a fortnight ago.According to the latest available data for Wednesday March 18, filling up a tank of petrol or diesel now costs more than €7 extra than it did two weeks ago, reflecting the wider impact of international tensions on energy markets.
The recent spike follows rising global instability, which has already driven sharp increases in electricity prices across Spain in recent days.
Where to find the cheapest fuel in Alicante
Despite the overall rise, there are still some areas where motorists can save a little money when filling up.
Data from the Ministry for Ecological Transition’s Geoportal shows that the lowest prices for 95-octane petrol can currently be found in:
- La Vila Joiosa
- Benissa
- Alicante city
For Diesel A, the most affordable options are slightly more spread out, with cheaper prices available in:
- Benissa
- Santa Pola
- La Vila Joiosa
- Alicante city
The platform gathers information directly from service stations and updates automatically every five minutes. However, it also notes that prices shown are “for informational purposes only” and may not always reflect real-time changes at the pump.
Prices vary depending on updates
One important detail for drivers is that not all prices are updated at the same time. Some listings may reflect figures from several days ago, meaning the actual cost when you arrive could be higher.
The data includes the exact location of each petrol station, along with the date of its most recent update, helping users compare options before setting off.
A noticeable jump in just two weeks
The increase has been rapid. What many drivers are noticing most is not just the price itself, but how quickly it has risen. Filling up a full tank now represents a significantly higher weekly cost for regular motorists.
This trend mirrors broader energy market movements, where uncertainty linked to geopolitical tensions is pushing up costs across the board.
While cheaper options still exist in places like La Vila Joiosa and Benissa, the overall direction remains upwards, leaving many drivers keeping a closer eye than usual on the numbers at the pump.
