Boozy solution: Spanish bar finds creative answer for glass shortage
The video of the Barcelona bar serving drinks in plastic containers has gone viral

Spain is chock full of bars and restaurants, and at the busiest time of year, it’s pretty common practice for most establishments to serve to-go drinks in plastic cups, even though consuming alcohol on the street at any time will land you with a costly fine in places like Madrid, the Balearics and the Canary Islands.
But what happens when bars run out of glasses? Well, one establishment in Barcelona came up with an interesting alternative, and it’s taken the internet by storm.
One customer ordered a couple of drinks to take away at Bar Star in L’Hospitalet de Llobregat recently and was baffled when the waitress pulled out some Tupperware containers instead of glasses.

“Yesterday we went to ask for a drink and they gave it to us in a tupperware because they had no glasses left,” the patron wrote on Twitter, accompanying his post with a video.
The bar staff can be seen filling the plastic boxes with ice, rum and soda, before punching a hole in the top and inserting straws, creating the ideal to-go drinks.
The bizarre video has already amassed almost 50,000 ‘likes’ along with quite a few peculiar photos of alternative receptacles, such as a pint of beer served in a plastic bag!
