British boy, 8, in critical condition after fall from third-floor window in Ibiza
The child suffered severe head trauma and multiple injuries in an accident in Sant Antoni de Portmany

The incident took place on Tuesday evening, May 27, at around 8.20pm. Emergency services from SAMU 061 were quickly on the scene and found the boy unconscious, having suffered a serious head injury as a result of the fall.
Paramedics were able to stabilise him at the scene and transported him to the Nuestra Señora del Rosario Polyclinic in Ibiza city using an Advanced Life Support ambulance. Given the seriousness of his condition, the emergency team activated the severe polytrauma protocol, a medical alert designed to prepare the hospital to receive patients with multiple life-threatening injuries.
The Guardia Civil also issued a green alert, a procedure used to ensure emergency medical vehicles can pass through traffic as quickly as possible to improve response times.
The medical report issued on Wednesday morning confirmed that the boy had suffered a skull fracture, subdural haematoma and cerebral oedema, all associated with serious head trauma. In addition to these injuries, he was found to have a broken jaw, chest trauma with bilateral pneumothorax, and other multiple injuries.
Following emergency surgery, the hospital arranged for the child to be transferred by air to Son Espases University Hospital in Palma de Mallorca. This facility is the leading referral centre for complex paediatric cases in the Balearic Islands, and the transfer was carried out under strict medical supervision due to the absence of a specialist paediatric intensive care unit in Ibiza.
At this stage, the circumstances surrounding the fall remain unclear. The Guardia Civil has opened an investigation to determine what happened and whether any factors such as negligence or structural failure may have contributed.
No further details have been released about if the boy was alone or with a family member or caregiver at the time of the accident.
