The unnamed drunk groom allegedly hit his wife at their wedding reception in the Mallorca municipality Calvia
A drunk British groom spent his wedding night in a prison cell in Mallorca after allegedly hitting his new bride during a reception in Calvia.
The couple tied the knot in the tourist town of Peguera, Calvia, whilst on holiday on Friday June 3. Hours later, just before 9pm, the Local Police were called to the wedding party following reports the groom had been drinking heavily before becoming violent towards the bride.
According to reports, the arrestee had to be restrained by police prior to his arrest.
The woman left the wedding party venue and returned later, oblivious to her new husband's arrest.
The case is now being handled by the Guardia Civil and it's not clear whether the alleged attacker has appeared before the courts or not but the bride is understood to have declined to press charges.
