Discover the new dog-friendly beach to come this summer near Aguilas
The new doggy beach where pet owners may walk their pooches will be opened soon just across the border from Murcia
One of the most popular pastimes in summer in Spain is to go down to the beach to cool off, but many times dog owners are disappointed that they are not allowed to take their pets on the sand.
Luckily, there are many beaches specifically set aside where dogs are welcome, and this summer Pulpí, the Almería town right on the border with the Region of Murcia, will be the first municipality in the east of Almería to have a dog-friendly beach.
Several towns in eastern Almería have said over the last few years that they will make spaces for dogs on their beaches, but Pulpí will be the first to finally go through with it in the summer of 2024.
At the moment, the only other places in the province of Almería where dogs are welcome on the beach are on La Playa de la Rana beach in Adra and on La Playa del Bobar beach in Almería capital.
In contrast, the neighbouring Region of Murcia has lots of dog-friendly beaches where pets may be walked on the seashore and splash around in the sea, including three in Águilas.
The new Pulpí doggy beach will be located in the area of Las Palmeras, in San Juan de los Terreros. It is a quiet beach very close to Águilas, and has a coastal area of about 1 kilometre in length.
"It is a perfectly conditioned beach for pets, it is not a very crowded area and will be the perfect place for them to enjoy the summer, cool off, play and everything they need, for them to enjoy and for the owners themselves to enjoy".
