ARCHIVED - Dozens of elderly people in AlmerÃa fall for vaccination hoax
The Andalusian regional government asked people to think twice before trusting false announcements of this type and emphasized that nobody will be vaccinated without a prior appointment.
Police from Abla, Abrucena and Fiñana (Almería) had to be sent to Abla health centre on Thursday (18 February) to sort out the chaos caused by dozens of elderly people rushing there after seeing fake news on social media and in WhatsApp groups.
The message, which the Andalusian regional government has announced to be a “malicious hoax”, said that people over the age of 80 could go to the health centre for their vaccinations, with no need for an appointment.
The authorities have stressed that the Andalusian Health Service is contacting those eligible for their vaccinations to give them specific appointments.
