ARCHIVED - February 4 and 5 Dama Festival in Teulada Moraira
The municipality in the Marina Alta region of Alicante province celebrates 'Festa de la Dama' (Lady's Festival) in honour of Saint Blai

Teulada Moraira is hosting its traditional festival known as 'Festa de la Dama' (Lady's Festival) on February 4 and 5 in honour of Saint Blai, protector against sore throats and a female figure represented by a unique sweet pastry made locally in the form of a richly dressed lady in a long dress.
These treats are blessed in church on Saint Blai day and according to tradition, after the blessing ceremony, they are believed to protect against sore throats and typically given to children.
"This festival has its origins in the day of Sant Blai, but what makes it special is the Dama, a typical local sweet whose recipe is unique and has been passed down from generation to generation in Teulada Moraira. It is shaped like a woman, in honour of mothers and nature, and is made with products such as flour, fresh yeast, oil, sugar, cinnamon, eggs and milk," explained Councillor for Fiestas, Rosana Caselles.
To celebrate this deep rooted celebration, a varied programme of activities has been put together by the Grup de Danses Font Santa de Teulada, the Asociación Cultural Amics de Teulada and the Comisión de Fiestas San Vicente Ferrer 2023 in collaboration with the Teulada Town Council.
