November 1: ASOKA Orihuela charity dog walk with a session in English
Information talks will also be held in English and Spanish at the animal shelter in San Bartolomé

Dog lovers in the Orihuela area can spend a lovely morning walking a shelter dog, as the animal shelter ASOKA Orihuela holds another of its charity walks on Sunday November 1, with a session in English for anyone who doesn’t speak Spanish.
The walks take place at the Orihuela Animal Protection Center on Camino Lo Arques, in the San Bartolomé district, and give the dogs a break from their usual routine, along with a chance to explore the surroundings and socialise. They also help raise awareness of the problem of abandoned animals and the work the association does.
There are three sessions to choose from. The first starts at 10am in Spanish, with a short talk about ASOKA followed by a walk, and the same programme is repeated in English at 10.45am. A final session at 11.30am is for the walk only.
Taking part costs a donation of €5, and anyone who’d like to come needs to register by emailing asokaorihuela@gmail.com. The walks also give potential adopters the chance to meet the dogs in person and see how the shelter runs.
ASOKA is also looking for sponsors for its 2027 calendar, and companies, businesses and professionals can buy advertising space for €35 for a quarter page or €60 for half a page. To take part, they should email their logo to calendarioasokaorihuela@gmail.com, pay into the shelter’s account (which is listed on its website) and send proof of payment to the same address.
