ARCHIVED - Finnair adds 40 weekly autumn-winter flights with Spain
The carrier has increased connections with the Canary Islands, Alicante and Malaga
Spain has experienced an incredible bounce back from the years of the coronavirus pandemic, celebrating a bumper summer season when bars and restaurants exceeding 2019 spending and some areas like the Costa del Sol welcoming more tourists than ever before.
In anticipation of an equally successful autumn-winter 2022, Finnair has announced that it plans to increase its operations in Spain from the last weekend in October, connecting six Spanish airports with Helsinki, adding no fewer than 40 weekly flights.
The airline already operates daily flights from Barcelona and Madrid, so the new trips will include a 7-day option from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, six flights per week from Tenerife, three weekly flights from Alicante and up to ten from Malaga.
The airline has been forced to drastically alter its route plan since Russia restricted its airspace following the invasion of Ukraine. The flight times to Finnair’s well worn Asian destinations have significantly increased, prompting the carrier to look towards a more balanced network within Europe.
