ARCHIVED - Former beauty queen and partner jailed in Spain over 1.6M euro wine theft
The unique vintage wine was stolen from the cellar of an exclusive restaurant in Spain's Extremadura region

A couple has been jailed for four years in Spain for stealing 45 vintage bottles of wine valued at around 1.6 million euros from a luxury hotel in the Extremadura region.
Brazen former Mexican beauty queen and her partner, identified in Spanish press as Priscila Guevara and Constantín Dumitru, raided the cellar of the exclusive Atrio hotel and Michelin star restaurant in Cáceres in 2021.
They then went on the run, sparking a nine-month manhunt before they were arrested at the Croatia-Montenegro border last July and returned to Spain. Police have still not recovered any of the stolen wine.
The court - who identified the couple only as Tatania and Estanislao - heard the ex-pageant winner booked into the luxury property using a fake Swiss passport before she was later joined by her accomplice.
The pair ate an elaborate 14-course meal before a guided tour of the hotel's wine cellar.
She later distracted reception staff while Estanislao is believed to have stolen a key to the cellar, later retuning in the early hours of the following morning to stuff dozens of bottles of wine into a rucksack - including a unique vintage from 1806 worth 350,000 euros.

The National Police have shared footage of the theft, and confirmed the couple visited the restaurant on at least three occasions prior to the robbery to prepare.
In addition to the jail sentences, which are not yet final and can be appealed against, the pair were ordered to pay more than 750,000 euros to insurers in damages.
