ARCHIVED - Infections fall across Andalucia: Covid update June 14
Cases of Covid begin to fall across Andalucia following several weeks of increased figures.
As Andalucia continues to roll out its vaccination programme, the region’s infection rates have fallen for the first time in several weeks.
According to the latest figures from the Ministry of Health, Andalucia reported a total of 1,315 new cases in the 48 hours before Monday, June 14, lower than the 1,600 new infections reported for the previous weekend.
The region’s accumulative incidence rate has also dropped to 184.7 cases per 100,000 people in the last 14 days, 3 per cent less than on Saturday, June 12, and 2.7 per cent less than seven days ago; however, this remains the second- highest rate in the country.
By provinces, Malaga has become the area with the highest number of new cases with 242, followed by 234 in Sevilla, 182 in Cadiz, 176 in Granada, 162 in Huelva, 147 in Cordoba, 106 in Jaen, and 66 in Almeria.
The figures also revealed that two people had died in Andalucia in Cordoba and Granada.
The drop in infections comes after several weeks of soaring case numbers which led officials to delay their de-escalation plan to ease Covid restrictions as tourists arrive this summer.
