ARCHIVED - Lorca police officers save choking two-month-old baby
The newborn miraculously survived thanks to the Lorca officers’ quick action
Officers from the Local Police force in Lorca, Murcia, heroically saved the life of a two-month-old baby by performing the Heimlich manoeuvre just in time.
The emergency services received a call on Monday December 6 about a baby who couldn’t breathe due to some food lodged in the young child’s throat.
When the officers arrived, they found that the baby was already turning purple due to lack of air and immediately performed the Heimlich manoeuvre to unblock the airways. Thankfully, after expelling the food and various liquids, the child gradually began to breathe again.
Once the UME ambulance arrived, medical personnel confirmed that the child was out of danger thanks to the officer’s quick action and assisted the mother, who was suffering from a panic attack. Ambulance staff recommended that she take the child to the paediatrician to be on the safe side.
