Lost in the rain: PolicÃa Local reunite young girl with autism with her family after finding her alone in Alicante
The girl was found disoriented and unaccompanied in heavy rain in San Miguel de Salinas on Sunday
Officers from the Policía Local in San Miguel de Salinas had a distressing call-out on Sunday afternoon. During their shift, they came across a young girl alone in the street, wearing nappies and visibly disoriented, with heavy rain falling around her and no adult anywhere nearby. With no one to accompany her and unable to locate anyone in the immediate area, the officers took her to the local health centre for a check-up, as protocol requires in such situations.
It was there that the full picture became clear. The girl had been diagnosed with severe autism spectrum disorder, and her family had already been out searching for her. The Policía Local was able to reunite her with her parents, who were relieved to have her back safe.
The force shared the details of the incident on social media, both to inform the community and as a reminder of how quickly these situations can develop for families of children with complex needs. The post drew significant engagement from local residents, reflecting how deeply the story resonated.
