ARCHIVED - Malaga-bound flight makes emergency landing due to pressurisation problems
The plane was given priority at Malaga airport and it landed safely without incident
An emergency situation was declared on a flight from Barcelona to Malaga on Tuesday May 24 as a result of pressurisation problems in the cabin, and the plane was given priority to land over other air traffic.
Air traffic controllers reported on their official Twitter page that the aircraft landed safely, closely guarded by firefighters, after the pilot notified Malaga airport of the emergency situation.

The plane, a Vueling A320 had left Barcelona at 4.20pm and descended to Malaga shortly before 6pm after the pressurisation issues were detected as it flew over the province of Granada.
According to Vueling, masks dropped down from the overhead compartments following a burning smell, and it was quickly established that a depressurisation problem had arisen.
All established safety procedures were followed, the airline has reported, and thanks to the seamless coordination between the crew and the control tower, the plane was landed rapidly and without incident.
