Mazarron Council invites Camposol groups to join healthy assets register
Councillor launches municipal health assets map and invites Camposol groups to join the register
At a recent meeting between Mazarrón Councillor for Camposol, Carmen Navarro, the Camposol Business Association and gardening groups Los Palacios and Greenfingers, the Councillor provided information about the new Mazarrón municipality health asset mapping incentive. This project is aimed at encouraging people to take up healthy activities through community groups and already includes the “Active Aging Programme” and the “Healthy Aging through Gardening” project, which was launched at the Mazarrón senior’s day centre with a presentation on behalf of the Camposol gardening groups.
The idea behind the Health asset mapping incentive is to create a register of groups within the municipality that are involved in physical and community-based pastimes. It has been proved that these types of activities promote health and well-being for individuals particularly as they get older. The register makes it easier for people to identify and contact groups local to them that are involved in health promoting activities and is described in the incentive launch with the following:
Mapping Community Assets for Health
Objective: To create a collection of health assets that can be used by the community to improve their well-being and to facilitate access to information on the resources available in Mazarrón and Puerto de Mazarrón.
What is asset mapping for health? It is a tool that allows us to identify and collect resources available in the community that contribute to the improvement of the well-being and health of its inhabitants.
What is a health asset? It is any resource, service or activity that improves people's health and well-being. It can be a support group, association, activity, business, or a public or private space.
Groups or other organisations as mentioned above wishing to be listed in the register, which will increase the chances of attracting new members or volunteers, can click on this link or scan the QR code in the accompanying image for the online application form.
