ARCHIVED - Mercadona supermarkets across Spain announce new opening hours from September
The Spanish grocery giant will close earlier from now on and remain shut on Sundays
Mercadona supermarkets around the country will change their opening hours come September 1 and will also alter the times during which shoppers can access customer service.
During the summer months, the Valencian supermarket chain opened and closed at varying times and on different days, depending on the region. In touristy spots with high volumes of traffic, Mercadona stores didn’t shut up shop until 10pm and customers could even browse until 3pm on Sundays in locations like Torrevieja, Benidorm, Roquetas de Mar, Marbella and Calpe.
This is all about to change, however, as the company has announced on its website the new opening hours which will apply from September in every one of its supermarkets: from 9am to 9.30pm, Monday to Saturday.
This of course means that the chain, recently voted the top choice by shoppers in the Region of Murcia, will remain closed on Sundays from now on, and presumably on public holidays too, although this hasn’t been confirmed.
Also from September 1, customers can call Mercadona’s Customer Service line on +34 800 500 220: a toll-free line that is open from Monday to Sunday, 365 days a year between 7am and 10.30pm.
In addition, customers can also contact supermarkets through the store’s individual email, website or social networks.
