Missing British woman found safe near Valencia but beloved dog still missing
Wendy Iles, 68, disappeared while travelling back to the UK from the Costa Blanca after her campervan reportedly broke down

A British woman who vanished near Valencia after becoming stranded during a journey back to the UK has now been found safe and sound, but the search is continuing for her missing dog.
Wendy Iles, 68, disappeared earlier this week after travelling from Cumbre del Sol on the Costa Blanca towards Caen in France, where she planned to catch a ferry home to Britain.
Her daughter Louise launched an urgent appeal after Wendy missed the crossing and stopped answering her phone. She was last heard from on Sunday night in the Alfafar area near Valencia.
There were growing fears for her safety after Louise revealed her mother sounded confused during their final conversation and believed her campervan had been stolen.
Now, after an intense search involving both the Spanish and UK authorities, Louise has confirmed that Wendy has been found along with the campervan, which is understood to have suffered a tyre blowout.
While the news has brought huge relief to the family, there is still concern over Wendy’s beloved springer spaniel, Beau, who remains missing in Spain.
Louise confirmed the family is “still looking for my mum’s dog”.
The disappearance sparked widespread concern online after relatives appealed for help tracing Wendy and her UK-registered campervan after she failed to arrive in France.
At the time, Louise also spoke of the difficulties the family faced trying to track her movements across two countries.
“British police will not track her bank transactions until she's classed as high risk, and Spanish police will not search until 48 hours have passed,” she explained during the search effort.
The family is now asking people in the Valencia area to keep an eye out for Beau in the hope the dog can also be safely reunited with Wendy.
