Electricity prices in Spain fall slightly but still mark the second highest price in history
The price of electricity on the wholesale market has fallen by more than 13% to 472.97 euros per megawatt hour (MWh), its second highest price since records began. This unprecedented state of affairs has come just two weeks after the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, which has exacerbated already rising cost of energy across Europe.
So it is that the cost of electricity this Wednesday will be the second most expensive in history, only behind the 544.98 euros/MWh that it reached yesterday, and way ahead of the 442.54 euros/MWh recorded last Monday.
What time is electricity cheapest today?
With regard to the daily variation, as usual, the cheapest periods are concentrated both in the early hours of the day and in the early afternoon. Today, the period between 1pm and 2pm is when the price reaches its lowest figure of 356.74 euros/MWh.
What time is electricity most expensive today?
The central hours of the morning as well as those closest to dusk are when energy is more expensive, reaching 605 euros/MWh between 7pm and 8pm today.
