Red flags on Cartagena and San Javier beaches this Wednesday
There are red and yellow flags on beaches along the Mediterranean today
It’s not a good day for going to the beach as lifeguard posts on nine beaches in the municipalities of Cartagena and San Javier have raised the red flag this Wednesday July 17, forbidding people from swimming in the sea.
Specifically, the red flag is flying on the following beaches: Playa del Monteblanco, Playa Galúa, Playa de las Sirenas, Playa de Entremares, Playa del Levante, Playa del Banco del Tabal, Playa del Pedrucho (Sur, Centro and Norte).
In addition, the yellow flag calling for caution when swimming has been raised on the beaches of Playa del Matalentisco, Playa La Higuerica and Playa La Carolina in Águilas; as well as on the Playa del Calblanque in Cartagena; on Puntas de Calnegre in Lorca; on Arenal sur, Arenal norte, Estacio norte and Ensenada del Esparto centro in San Javier; and Barraca Quemada, Las Salinas, Punta de Algas and Torre Derribada in San Pedro del Pinatar.
To stay safe while swimming in the sea, the 112 Emergency service recommends choosing a beach with a lifeguard service and to always keep an eye on children.
They also advise being attentive to any possible changes in the state of the sea and the colour of the flags, as well as always following the instructions given by lifeguards.
