Scottish woman causes outrage by spreading ashes of dead brother at Ibiza pool party
The Brit was filmed tossing the ashes into a pool in the middle of a rave at the Spanish hotel
A young Scottish woman has sparked outrage online by posting footage of the moment she tossed her brother’s ashes, who had recently passed away, into the swimming pool of the Ushuaïa Ibiza hotel in the middle of a packed rave.
Her post was captioned "Just me sprinkling my brother about Ushuaia".
In a video that lasts just 7 seconds and has since gone viral, the Briton can be seen dancing in the knee-deep water. She then takes a small bottle out of her bag and starts spinning around, slowly spreading the powdery contents into the pool, while dozens of other revellers continue to party around her, oblivious to the macabre scene.
Shortly after uploading the video to TikTok, she found herself immersed in controversy and facing a barrage of criticism for her distasteful and disrespectful treatment of her brother’s remains. The footage quickly disappeared, although it’s not clear whether she removed it herself or the platform took it down due to the reactions.
However, before the video was wiped the now infamous Scottish woman was quick to defend her actions, echoing the iconic words of boxer Conor McGregor and writing: "I would just like to say, from the bottom of my heart, that I would like to take this opportunity to apologise... to absolutely no one.”
One person who shared the original video was reportedly contacted by the hotel and asked to remove it “immediately.”
The message read: "Hello, we saw the video of the pool at our venue that you just shared.
"This is needs to be removed immediately please as I'm sure you can understand, this can easily be taken out of context.
"Whilst we are sympathetic to the sentiment, we prefer for this not to be shared publicly."
