ARCHIVED - Seventy Americans busted at New Years Eve orgy in Barcelona
The sex party was uncovered when two participants tried to gain entry to the wrong house
People across Spain naturally choose to ring in the New Year in a variety of ways, but a large group of US citizens raised eyebrows when they were discovered partaking in an orgy in the Barcelona town of Lliçà d'Amunt.
The sex party, involving around 70 guests, was uncovered when two participants got lost and tried to enter another nearby property. The home owner, shocked that two strangers were trying to get into his house, called the Lliçà Local Police.
When the officers arrived, the suspects explained that they were trying to find another premises in the locale where a New Year’s Eve orgy was taking place. They directed the agents to the venue, where between 50 and 70 people were discovered having sex.
Catalonia introduced strict safety measures right before Christmas in an attempt to stem the spread of the Omicron coronavirus variant, including a 1am curfew, the closure of nightlife venues and limiting social gatherings to ten people.
All the participants were Americans who had hired prostitutes and rented the house to celebrate the end of the year. No arrests were made at the orgy but all of the revellers were identified and the event was reported both to the Mossos d’Esquadra and the Catalan Ministry of the Interior, who will decide if fines are to be doled out.
