ARCHIVED - Spain welcomes non-EU travellers with Covid recovery certificates
UK passengers who have recovered from coronavirus in the last 180 days can now travel to Spain
The Spanish government has announced that travellers arriving from non-EU countries, including the United Kingdom and the United States, will now be permitted entry if they can produce a Covid recovery certificate. The cert must have been issued at least 11 days after a positive diagnostic test and will remain valid for 180 days.
The news is another welcome boost for third country travellers, who can freely enter Spain from March 1 if they have been double jabbed with either EU or WHO-approved vaccines, including those developed by laboratories in China and India.
The new regulations regarding a recovery document have been published in the Official State Gazette (BOE) on Saturday February 26:
“Recovery certificate: a certificate issued by the competent authority or a medical service at least 11 days after the first positive NAAT or rapid antigen test is accepted as valid. The validity of the certificate shall end 180 days after the date of sampling.”

Last Friday, Spain extended the current rules allowing travellers from the EU to enter the country once they are double jabbed, have recovered from coronavirus or can provide a negative Covid test. The new regulations essentially mean the EU and non-EU passengers will be almost subject to the same restrictions, except that third country travellers can’t enter with a negative test.
As of February 1, vaccination certificates across Europe are only valid for 270 days from the administration of the last jab.
