Cable theft leaves public street lighting in several areas of Puerto de Mazarrón without power
Around 12 months ago there was a spate of incidents on several Sectors of the Camposol urbanisation where street lighting cable had been cut and stolen, and other areas of the Mazarrón municipality have also suffered from this type of crime – in the latest reported occurrence many metres of cable and manhole covers in Puerto de Mazarrón have been stolen in the Peñasco and Rihuete areas.
Mazarrón Councillor for Services, Tomás Ureña, has taken to social media to condemn the offences and ask for citizen collaboration to fight these thefts.
The perpetrators of the recent crime have not been caught and the public are urged to contact the Police on 112 if suspicious activity around street lighting equipment is witnessed. English speakers are available on the 112 number.
