Stormy end to December followed by brighter days: Alicante weather forecast December 29 - January 4
After a stormy start, conditions improve briefly around the New Year before turning unsettled again

Heavy rain and storms are kicking off the final days of December, before calmer and colder conditions arrive for the New Year celebrations. Sunshine is set to return mid-week, although more unsettled weather is likely again by the weekend.
Monday December 29

The week gets off to a rough start. Skies are very cloudy, with frequent showers that could be heavy and persistent at times, especially along the northern coast of Alicante. Thunderstorms are possible, and rainfall could be intense in places. Snow levels sit around 1,400-1,600 metres. Overnight temperatures drop, while daytime highs change little. Easterly and northeasterly winds will be moderate along the coast.
Tuesday December 30

A much quieter day follows. Skies clear up in many areas, although inland spots may wake up to mist or fog. Daytime temperatures edge up slightly, while overnight temperatures change little. Winds are generally light, with a moderate north-westerly breeze inland.
Wednesday December 31 - New Year’s Eve

New Year’s Eve looks to be mostly dry and settled. Expect sunshine mixed with some low cloud at times. Temperatures dip a little, especially overnight, and inland areas may see a touch of frost early on. Winds remain light.
Thursday January 1 - New Year’s Day

There will be a calm and fairly bright start to the new year. Skies stay mostly clear with occasional low clouds. Temperatures remain on the cool side, with light winds and a crisp feel inland during the morning.
Friday January 2

Another largely dry day with sunshine and some cloud. Winds stay light, and temperatures rise slightly compared to earlier in the week, making it one of the more comfortable days overall.
Saturday January 3

Clouds will build up during the day, with rain developing in some areas later on. Despite the cloud and showers, temperatures are a little higher, and winds stay fairly light.
Sunday January 4

A more unsettled feel returns. Cloud and rain are expected earlier in the day, with showers gradually easing by the evening, although skies remain grey. Temperatures will drop again, and it will feel noticeably windier than it has in recent days.
The weather over the festive period looks to remain unsettled. Things will calm down around the New Year, so make the most of it, ring in the New Year, and get out for a walk as the rain looks likely to return towards the end of the week. With Three Kings still to come, hopefully the weather dries up so they can parade through the towns as usual.
