ARCHIVED - Swiss fugitive wanted by Europol arrested in Benidorm
The National Police arrested the man when he tried to get on a bus bound for Barcelona and started acting in a sketchy way

Police in Benidorm have arrested a 33-year-old Swiss man at the bus station who is wanted by the authorities in Switzerland for crimes of illegal detention, kidnapping, drug trafficking, coercion, robbery, theft, fraud and facilitation of illegal migration.
The fugitive, who had a European Arrest Warrant for Extradition issued against him, was arrested by agents of the Citizen Security Brigade of Benidorm when he tried to board a bus coming from Algeciras, bound for Barcelona.
Police sources stated that he was picked up because his “elusive attitude… in the presence of the agents made them suspicious.”
When they ran his identity through their database, they found he was wanted for a total of eight crimes in Switzerland.
Swiss authorities accuse him of illegally detaining, along with two other accomplices, a man after forcing him into a vehicle and forcing him to take them to his own home. Once there, after stealing the keys, they gained access to the victim’s home and stole jewellery worth approximately 7,000 euros and more than 6,000 dollars in cash, as well as other valuables, from a safe.
The fugitive is also accused of having facilitated the entry into Switzerland of two unlicensed foreigners and of hiding them in his house. In addition, he has been caught by the authorities of the Alpine country on several occasions with large quantities of cocaine and marijuana, being arrested on several occasions for drug trafficking.
For all this, and according to the arrest warrant issued by EUROPOL, he could face up to twenty years in prison when extradited back to Switzerland.
