ARCHIVED - Thousands of passengers affected by more easyJet cancellations, including Spain
easyjet cancels 60 flights from Gatwick to dozens of destinations such as Alicante and Seville
The travel chaos continues as budget airline easyJet announced another wave of cancellations on Thursday June 9, with 60 routes to popular destinations, including Alicante and Seville in Spain, grounded at the last minute.
Most of the affected flights are from London Gatwick, where travellers were at least given notice of a few days to change their holiday plans, but passengers flying from Bristol to Lisbon were only told at 5am that their trip that same day was cancelled. A flight between Edinburgh and Birmingham was also axed at very short notice.

easyJet has once again attributed the enormous disruption to staff shortages which has plagued other airlines such as British Airways and created mammoth queues and confusion at airports across the UK. Spain hasn’t escaped the fray either, with travellers from the US and Britain waiting for hours on arrival to be processed by the under-staffed passport control desks.
Passengers whose trip has been cancelled are entitled to be put on another flight the same day, if there’s one available, with any airline, and are also entitled to compensation of 220 pounds, unless the carrier can prove that the problem was due to “extraordinary circumstances.”
As well as flights to the Spanish destinations of Alicante and Seville, easyJet also axed flights from London Gatwick to Bodrum, Faro, Krakow, Lisbon, Malta, Marseille, Paris, Prague, and many others.
