Two new Malaga-Barcelona high-speed trains hit the tracks next month
The new services will increase the Costa del Sol connection to northern Spain by 7,000 weekly seats

From October 17, state rail operator Renfe will run two additional daily trains between Malaga and Barcelona, responding to the increased demand in the Costa del Sol.
Last week, the company announced that it will begin running two more high-speed AVEs to Madrid on the same date.
The new services will depart from Malaga at 8.30am each morning and leave Barcelona at 3.15pm, bringing the number of daily rail connections between the cities up to four.
All AVE services between Malaga and Barcelona from mid-October will be carried out using the series 103 trains, which can fit far more passengers than the current ones. With all of these changes, connections to and from the Costa del Sol will increase by a thousand seats per day, raising the weekly trains with Barcelona to 12,000 seats, compared to the 5,000 on offer at the moment.
To facilitate the additional trips, Renfe has had to make some changes to the Malaga-Barcelona AVE schedules which will be effective from October 17. Full timetable details can be found on the Renfe website and passengers can now purchase tickets on this line for travel until December 2024.
