Unseasonably high temperatures at the end of the month: Spain weather forecast Jan 29-Feb 1
The heat will ease off throughout Spain but the mercury will still be unusually high for this time of year
Weather outlook on Wednesday January 31
Provinces across Spain have racked up more than 100 heat records so far this January but as we approach the end of the month the temperatures will drop by a good 8 or 10ºC in the southeast of the country.
But even as the anticyclone weakens at the beginning of the week, drawing back the warmer air we’ve become used to, high pressures will continue to push the thermometers up above average for this time of year.
Monday January 29
Slightly cloudy skies will prevail on Monday, which promises to be a largely settled day. The only exception is the northwest of the country, where an inactive Atlantic front could result in more overcast weather and light rain in the afternoon.
There is also a slight chance of weak showers along the Mediterranean coast and the Strait later in the day.
Temperatures will remain unseasonably high with few changes compared to the last few days.
Tuesday January 30
Most of the country will continue to enjoy the last effects of the high pressure with slightly cloudy skies or intervals of high clouds. However, early Tuesday morning will be very overcast in the Mediterranean and low-lying areas of the southwest with possible drizzle, but this should lift in the afternoon.
Daytime temperatures should stay more or less the same with frost only forecast at very high altitudes.
Wednesday January 31
The intermittent cloudiness and bright spells will continue on Wednesday and daytime temperatures will creep up by a couple of degrees in eastern Spain. However, the evening will feel a little cooler, especially in the east and northeast, and the Balearic Islands.
Despite these drops, the mercury will remain much higher than normal for the tail-end of January.
Thursday February 1
Few changes are expected as we enter a new month and the anticyclonic weather should persist in almost all of Spain, with a predominance of slightly cloudy skies. Weak rainfall is forecast along the Strait but the rest of the country should stay dry.
Again, daytime temperatures will be pleasantly mild for the most part, with a few decreases in the west of the Balearic Islands and east of the Canary Islands.
