WATCH: Fire near Playa Grande, Puerto de Mazarron
The brush fire occurred at the entrance to Playa Grande, but was put out within just 3 hours
There was a big fire at the entrance to Playa Grande in Puerto de Mazarrón last night, Thursday March 21, with the emergency services receiving more than thirty calls at around 6.15pm.
It was in an area of reeds and scrubland on the approach to the Mazarrón urbanisation, and reports from emergency services say that the strong winds meant the fire spread very fast.
The Avenida del Castellar had to be closed to traffic between Calle Babor and the Bolnuevo roundabout.
Thankfully, firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze within just a few hours, declaring it “stabilised” by 9.03pm.
